La Chatte Gitane (or The Gypsy Cat) was the name we chose for our cottage in France at the time. We chose it while on the road, moving house the first time round, from Ireland to France with 2 dogs and 7 cats in the car.
This blog began its insignificant life as a recipe book for friends and family who would ask me repeatedly for a recipe of this, that and the other.
Since then it has taken many different directions, like we did and like gypsies tend to do. Sometimes making a U-turn and revisiting familiar roads and taking a break when necessary.
You'll find recipes here, but also musings about the places we've called home, the gardens that we've established, not always successfully, the homes we've improved and the environments we've lived in. Currently, after yet another stint in Ireland, we're back in France @ Le Mas d'Ayen

Another List - Seed Order List

Serious gardeners will probably have ordered, payed and received their vegetable seeds by now.
Me ? No. I've only just compiled my list with desirable seeds.
In the past I've mainly ever ordered seeds from The Organic Gardening Catalogue and this year will be no different.

My veggie plot is small and I'll have more seeds than I can manage. Hopefully they'll stretch for a couple of years.

The raised beds were an impromptu decision last year in April or May.
I used seeds from previous years and bought some extra. No planning went into it.
Now, I'll have a better idea of what can go where and what veg I really want and better organised beds will be on the agenda.
Hopefully by next year we'll have expanded the plot a little more and who knows, maybe a little greenhouse or polytunnel.

Even later in the summer we had this raised bed fabricated. It is right near the kitchen and is intended for herbs. I think I can fill it with some veg and all. Especially the squash and pumpkin, they can trail down the slope.

Good list ? Have you bought your seeds yet ?

    1. My seed stock is depleted and I haven't grown anything serious in the last couple of years. So I have to start from scratch.
Is that green and yellow in one ? xxx...x

    1. Love the chickens too. And they are very good. As in they don't eat anything green (strange birds), so the vegetables are safe. xxx...x

  4. You are ahead of me! I haven't even been through my seeds yet. I don't start sowing for a while yet so I don't need to rush..........I am always behind everyone else but then I have a very short growing season so that is the right place for me to be!

    1. Our growing season is short too. I've got small varieties of tomatoes and squash on my list in the hope they'll grow and ripen in time. xxx...x

  6. I don't need to buy any, I have enough 'in date' seeds from all my freebies last year and leftover seeds in my seed drawer, so all the catalogues plummeting onto the doormat have gone straight into the recycling box so that there is no temptation :-)

    1. Luckily we don't get the catalogues through the letterbox here. The temptation would kill me. Bad enough with internet browsing. xxx...x
