La Chatte Gitane (or The Gypsy Cat) was the name we chose for our cottage in France at the time. We chose it while on the road, moving house the first time round, from Ireland to France with 2 dogs and 7 cats in the car.
This blog began its insignificant life as a recipe book for friends and family who would ask me repeatedly for a recipe of this, that and the other.
Since then it has taken many different directions, like we did and like gypsies tend to do. Sometimes making a U-turn and revisiting familiar roads and taking a break when necessary.
You'll find recipes here, but also musings about the places we've called home, the gardens that we've established, not always successfully, the homes we've improved and the environments we've lived in. Currently, after yet another stint in Ireland, we're back in France @ Le Mas d'Ayen

And then the sun came out.

Check the weather forecast. Sunny, 19°C, no rain ! Well, thank you !  It is about time.
Over the last week or so the only thing I wanted to do was curl up on the sofa with a blanket pulled over myself (head included)

Today, I could get the cushions of the outdoor lounge out. Hauling them all the way from the garage downstairs, up and out.

I know that tonight I'll have to take the cushions in again....

That the cats will all come indoors, again ....

And I will disappear under my blanket on the sofa..... again.

But for now... all is well.

    1. No, it's far enough from the garage to the patio. I'm not hauling them all the way to England. ;)

  3. just adorable! Fabulous outdoor space, and I love the way your cats have made themselves so cosy.

My cat Dudley is in my Bad Books today. Had some cakes cooling, so he thought it would be hilarious to take chunks out of the tops of two. Why does he do that, why? He doesn't even like cake!

    enjoy your sunshine x

    1. Thanks, Sadie.

Maybe Dudley just loved the fluffy texture of your cakes. Take it as a compliment :)
With 6 cats around the place there is always one or more doing some mischief at any given time. Ach, cats !
      :)

    1. Depends. Thumble dryer, highest setting, 30 minutes.
Wet cat on lap takes forever to dry. ;)
