Kitchen or Greenhouse ?

I do think Bert should get us a greenhouse or a micro polytunnel.

With the repotting of seedlings, space on the kitchen worktop is becoming limited.

Resulting in having to stack the trays 2 high.
These trays, by the way, I bought while living in France in Brico Dépôt, in the builders aisle. Very handy they are too. The 'tops' are upturned Ikea crates. To keep the blimmin' cats out !

Pumpkins, courgettes and runner beans where sent up to the attic. They've been placed under a north facing skylight, while getting accustomed to cooler temps.

Today, I would like to plant the broad beans into the raised beds. The weather forecast is good. Sunny, no rain, but chilly.

Coffee first, eh.

  2. Oh keep warm if it's going to be chilly. Raining here so I will be wearing a rather unfetching hat while I walk to work. I like your attic space - very useful xx

  3. That is a lot of seedlings! We have a polytunnel I couldn't grow half of what I do without it. Some plants stay in there to produce, tomatoes, courgettes, cukes don't grow outside here. We bought ours twelve years ago and it's still going strong!

    1. I envy people with polytunnels, I really do.
In previous places we've lived we've always had some sort of greenhouse. I guess a lot of tender plants will have to live in the kitchen for the whole season, unless I can bend Bert's arm a little. ;)
Cucumbers won't do it here either, outdoors, and you are living much further north still. I have the yellow round ones (Crystal Lemon) and they don't mind less than favourable summers. :) x

  4. Plants expand to fit the space available. If you had a polytunnel, that would be full to bursting-point too! ;)
