Collection of Artwork

Over the years we have acquired quite a collection of original works.
Some we bought, some were gifts from people who have touched our lives at one time or another. I cherish them. I even put most of them in mounting board ages ago. Wrapped them well for them to be framed in the future.
Picture framing was a part of my art supply business way back when. Now, after all these years, I have no idea where to get framing materials in or to the area where I live.
Obviously nothing will fit into standard size frames.
While rummaging in my craft room I unearthed them and looked through. Some are still okay. But unfortunately the etching prints show some foxing and in some cases severe foxing.

It breaks my heart and I am very disappointed in myself for not taking better care of them.

I'm afraid the severely affected ones will need professional help. But who ? where ? How to find someone ?
One of the downsides of living in the sticks, I guess.
Anyone out there who can point me in the right direction ?

  2. OK so !
Looks like you may have to put your boots on the ground and check out Killarney; I know that there was an artist who had an Art Shop in Cahersiveen about two years ago whether or not she is still there I don't know. Then there is the artist's village at Relig & don't you have a community art group in Sneem- someone there is bound to have the information that you require.

    1. Thanks Mel. I'll have to surf the internet a bit more. Particularly for framing materials. I have all the tools for framing.
I know all the artists in the village, but they probably wouldn't be able to help me with the foxing of the etchings. But I'll never know if I don't ask.
But thank you for taking the time to reply to my query.
The artist village in Ballinskelligs has a seperate art center with exposition rooms. It is a fantastic place where I pop in every time I venture out in that direction.

    1. Thank you, Jo. We really have got loads of art, still unframed.
I wonder if I ever get round to it whether we'll have enough wall space. LOL. x

    1. Hi Beverley !
In the last photo you'll notice brown spots on the artwork. It is believed to be a mold/fungi. Although it might also be from oxidation in the paper.
Sometimes 'foxing' looks like coffee or tea stains (often in old books) or spots like you can see above. x
